Snohomish Panthers lose to Monroe Bearcats

The Snohomish Panthers lost a football game to the Monroe Bearcats on September 19, 2014.

Even though Snohomish was the first to score a touchdown, Monroe took control and won 55-29.  The Panthers made some successful plays including a near 70 yard touchdown by Senior Connor Browne, which got the Snohomish fans screaming. Junior Quarterback, Kobe McDaniel also made a successful touchdown.  

When the Bearcats started making their own successful plays, both offensively and defensively, the score changed, with the Panthers finally losing by 26 points. READ STORY »

SHS hosts college wrestling

With the beginning of the wrestling season at SHS, a college wrestling duel opposing the Doane College Tigers from Nebraska and Simon Fraser University from Vancouver was being held on Friday, November 22 in the SHS gym. READ STORY »

Girls basketball team defeats Mount Vernon

Although it was Friday the 13, the SHS girls’ basketball team won their first league game against Mount Vernon 49-41. The panthers held the lead at halftime and were able to build off of that throughout the rest of the game to finish with a win.

The girl’s best quarter was the third, scoring a total of 18 points. Although the panthers were in the lead the entire game, Mount Vernon outscored the panthers in the fourth quarter. Towards the end of the game Senior Callie Harwood hit a three pointer to extend the lead. READ STORY »

SHS boys wrestling wins against Edmonds-Woodway by 39 points

SHS wrestling team came in to this season with high expectations and are currently rising to the challenge with a win over Edmonds Woodway last night. A win last season against Edmonds Woodway didn’t mean much to the team and expected a hard match.

“I’m really excited about a number of kids on the team,” said Head Coach Rob Zabel. “Tristan Baus [12] is obviously one to watch after last seasons trip to the state tournament along with Noah [Bomar] [11] and Wyatt [Butler] [10] who put in a lot of work in the off season.” READ STORY »

SHS girls basketball loses against Shorecrest

SHS struggled for the win against Shorecrest Wednesday, December 11, making for an intense basketball game.

During the first half, SHS fell behind, often scrambling for the ball and occasionally tumbling to the ground. The odds didn’t look good for SHS by half time, but when the buzzer signaled the third quarter, SHS came in full force. READ STORY »

Boys Swim and Dive Team Preview

The SHS Boys Swim and Dive Team are beginning their season on a positive note and hope to keep it that way as they work hard to make improvements on personal levels as well as, as a team.

This season they have all their divers returning as well as 13 swimmers and three newcomers. The team hopes to accept more members and get them to practice before the Snohomish Aquatic Center opens. READ STORY »

Boys basketball has high goals for new season

The Snohomish boys basketball team is filled with talent and has high expectations for this upcoming season. Many of the boys are returning from last season and it can be expected that they will be working hard.            

Two players to watch this season are Seniors Josh Baird and Steele Morgan; both starters from last season. The team elected them as captains and will look to them as leaders this season. READ STORY »

Macho Volleyball 2013

Several all-male teams gathered together for SHS’s annual Macho Volleyball Saturday, November 24. The long awaited event was composed of Glacier Peak and SHS students playing for the title of Macho Volleyball champions. READ STORY »

Wrestling season is back

Wrestling season is just around the corner and there is still much to do. Wrestlers stressed about getting ready for the season and the loss of a couple key members. With important members gone due to graduating last year and being injured, Snohomish has to find a way not to let this weaken them.

“There was a lot of good seniors, who went to state last year, that graduated but other than that I’m positive were going to do really well this year,” History teacher and wrestling Coach Rob Zabel said, “We have a pretty deep team.” READ STORY »

Panthers Journey at State Volleyball Tournament

This past weekend, the SHS volleyball team competed at the WIAA state tournament at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, Washington. The last time the Panthers made it to state was 2010, so this was very exciting to many of the players. The girls had a lot of momentum going into the tournament after winning the district championship for the first time in SHS history. READ STORY »
