Basketball: JV Boys blow out Bruins

The Snohomish JV Boys Basketball Team shocked Cascade Tuesday night in a blowout 46-24 game at home. Nearly doubling the Cascade Bruins in final points, the Panthers led the game from the first shot, a 3-pointer sunk by junior Zak Carlson, who would go on to lead the Panthers by scoring 13 points. The first quarter largely showcased the Panthers’ distance shooting, which earned the 9 points out of their total 16 for that quarter. READ STORY »

Boys basketball versus Kamiak

The Snohomish Boys’ Basketball team battled Kamiak High School in a 64-61 game last night with an end result of a close defeat.  It was a nail biting game that left no one seated, and had every Panther fan cheering.

“Kamiak is very fast-pace and we just need to stay with their pace,” said coach Len Bone prior to the game. READ STORY »

Boys Swim Team is back

The swim team is back in the pools and ready to take on the competition.

With the loss of Austin Campbell and Stephen Michel, both 2012 graduates of 2012, Robert Serviss, the swim team coach, says, “We’ll need [the swimmers] to step up to help fill the gaps they left.”

Serviss says we should be watching are Easton Lemos, a junior at SHS, and Ryan Fairhurst, a senior who is also team captain. READ STORY »

Snohomish-Glacier Peak volleyball ends with a loss

The dynamic rivalry between the girls’ volleyball teams of Snohomish, and Glacier Peak high school was conclusively settled at last night’s volleyball game. Despite both hosting the game, and attracting close to 50 student fans, the SHS volleyball team was unable to pull through. Ending with a score of 1-3 Glacier Peak, both teams team are already looking forward to a prompt rematch.

As an immense rivalry game, no one on the SHS volleyball team took this game more serious than the team captains. READ STORY »

Alumni, Jones, goes pro

Derek Jones, 2009 graduate of SHS, was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the eighth round as the 258th overall pick. Jones has been playing at Washington State University for the past four years and will be on his way to Colorado very soon.

As a star player at SHS, he led the Panthers to a 2008 state championship. Making a difference for Snohomish and Washington State, Jones is sure to do the same for the Rockies.  As a senior, he led the team with a 3.35 batting average, 17 doubles, three triples and nine home runs. READ STORY »

The vast open football field can seem intimidating for most people who are standing on its green grass-like turf.

Luckily, the football players are already experienced with this, facing it every football game that they play. Students who believe they have what it takes to be a football player can come out on June 10 – 12, seeing if they have what it takes. READ STORY »

Girl's prepare for fall volleyball

With the volleyball season rapidly approaching many girls that are trying out are starting to feel the nerves sink in. Although excited, there is more pressure on the ladies than there was in the past years. Girl's summer basketball prepares players for regular season

Girls summer basketball is starting up for another year at SHS. There will be no try outs, all the girls who played basketball during fall for SHS can come and participate in the summer basketball season with the new incoming freshman who would like to play for SHS. READ STORY »

New aquatic center to be built in place of the MAC

This summer the Maple Avenue Campus will be demolished to begin construction of the new Snohomish Aquatic Center.

The $21 million recreation center, designed by Dull Olson Weekes Architects will accommodate multiple pools, including a wave pool, a learn-to-swim area, and hot tubs.

The aquatic center will be open to water aerobics sessions and public recreation; it will also have a 10-lane pool for competitions. The fact the pool is inside helps competitive swimmers with the anti-glare. READ STORY »
