Q: What is the most important leadership quality and how do you represent it?

Q: What can you tell me about yourself? What kind of stuff do you do after school?

A: "I play volley ball all the time, year-round. My favorite color is pink, like, I have pink all the time. I’m really involved in Young Life and Wild Life, I’m a Wild Life leader, so I’m hanging out with middle-school kids on Friday nights." READ STORY »

Snohomish School District blood drive scheduled

The Snohomish School District is holding a blood drive February 1st at the district’s Resource and Service Center, in the Mobile center.

Keep in mind that every pint of blood can save up to three lives, and the collected blood is crucial to keeping a supply ready for medical emergencies, surgeries, and those with life- threatening illnesses. Studies say someone needs blood every three seconds in the United States. READ STORY »

Jazz Concert

Dim lights fill the room while photos of celebrities past line the walls. A rich, attractive aroma permeates the little restaurant and a stage occupies one wall, from which powerful music emanates. Tula’s Restaurant and Jazz club is the site of an annual Snohomish Jazz Band concert.

This last Sunday, Jazz band students played a packed club, opening for the Jazz Police, with whom Snohomish Jazz band director Pete Wilson has known since high school according to Wilson. READ STORY »

SHS ASB candidates address student body

Last Monday, candidates for various ASB positions delivered their speeches and answered questions from the student body. The format of the assembly is a question and answer session for the candidates, who answered questions from the student body.

“I think the impromptu questions that made them [the candidates] think on their feet gave me true impressions of them,” Junior Alicia Hynes stated. READ STORY »

ASB Election Results posted

SHS wrapped up finals week with the announcement of the new ASB officers.  Shelby Garrison was elected president with Corey Rogers serving as vice-president, Kayla Grundl, secretary, and Emma McNeil, treasurer.

The newly elected officers were informed in a meeting after school yesterday.  ASB Adviser, Vince Ivelia briefly spoke to the group of candidates and then handed them an envelope with the results.  READ STORY »

DECA New York Trip

Many people dream of seeing the world, Ben Doucette, SHS DECA teacher is making that dream come true for a group of 25 of his DECA students. On Tomorrow, the group will be departing on a six day trip to New York City.

On this voyage there will be a jam packed schedule of exciting and education events, starting with the arrival from their 14 hour and 45 minute passage to the east coast. READ STORY »

"Choose Houston" MLK Assembly

Snohomish High School 2007 graduate Houston Kraft was the featured speaker of this year’s MLK Assembly at Snohomish High School. Kraft’s sometimes humorous and often heartfelt message to the student body and staff on Friday focused on love.

Using examples from his elementary, middle school, high school, and even college years, Kraft told the student body of life experiences that he learned important life lessons from. READ STORY »

SHS PSAT scores drop

This year Snohomish High School’s PSAT results have come as shock to the district.

“The results are way down compared to state and national levels”, SHS counselor Ken Hansen said.

This year’s juniors at SHS that have taken the PSAT have gotten back their scores which are considerably lower than the past years.

“Several factors go in to these results,” Hansen said. "Did the students prepare themselves by doing the practice test or by looking at the bulletin?" READ STORY »

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Snohomish High School’s spring production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is in the making, and the cast was chosen last Friday.

The play is based on the one written by Shakespeare, classified as a comedy, following the events around the marriage and romances of Athenian characters. READ STORY »
