Superintendent selects NOA entry for district purchase

During the SHS Night of the Arts two pieces of student art were purchased. One sold for $300.00 bought by William A. Mester. Ph.D., Snohomish school district superintendent, another sold for $85.00 and was bought using funds from the donation of 10 assorted SHS teachers.       READ STORY »

5th Avenue honors SHS pit orchestra

The SHS orchestra was given an honorable mention ward by the Fifth Avenue Theatre in Seattle. This is the first year that SHS has entered the contest.

 “The Honorable mention award is when the Fifth Avenue Theatre opens up to different high schools from all around that have acting, choir, and/or some form of band class. Then if you choose to, you can enter in one of their competitions so your acting, choir, or in our case, orchestra can come to perform to possibly earn an award,” choir teacher Jaci Cummings said. Snohomish coming to a theater near you

Lights, camera, action! Over the summer, Snohomish will have the pleasure of having not one, but two movies filmed in town. Although there have been movies filmed in the Snohomish County area before, residents are rather excited for the film crews to actually come to the town of Snohomish. READ STORY »

Debaters make it far in national tournament

Auditions bring an early Christmas

Hopeful performers filled the halls of the PAC on September 13, where the second day of the audition process for “White Christmas” began. The sign-up sheets, one for each of the available days, were so packed with names that auditions will run on September 17 as well. READ STORY »

Snohomish High School welcomes parents to Curriculum Night

Curriculum Night is a night where teachers and parents meet and greet each other and discuss what students are going to expect in their classes.

Snohomish High School is holding a Curriculum Night on September 20, from 6:30-8:30 P.M. Parents should bring walking shoes and a copy of their students’ schedule. Students, now is the time to coach parents on how to get to class on time within a 5-6 minute passing period. READ STORY »

A surplus of royalty at Snohomish

On Monday, September 17, ten senior girls from Snohomish High School were informed that they had been voted into the Homecoming Court. Lindsey Shackelford, student body president of SHS, was not invited to join them.

There was a tie between Shackelford and another princess, but neither the principal nor the ones who counted the votes would disclose who the other girl was. It was decided that there could be 11 princesses on Homecoming Court this year, but Shackelford was not contacted until Thursday morning.  READ STORY »

Alumni Jon Brockman out for eye injury

Snohomish alumni Jon Brockman was injured while warming up for a practice with the Houston Rockets on Monday, September 10th.

Brockman was stretching with an elastic band when it suddenly snapped up and hit him in both eyes, momentarily blinding him. Although he should make a full recovery there is not an estimated time when that full recovery will happen.

Gordy Brockman, Jon’s father, said, “It’s a matter of when he see’s again.”

Brockman goes to his doctor at least once a week and his eye “shows good sign”. READ STORY »

Jam Club's live performance

Every Thursday, the Jam Club of Snohomish High School rehearses and the Farmer’s Market of Snohomish helps local businesses and entrepreneurs promote their products. On October 4, the charm and entertainment of these two groups were combined when Jam Club put on a live performance (sans microphones and amplifiers) at the market. READ STORY »

Early Learning Open House

The Early Learning class at Snohomish High School, taught by Linsey Haywood, hosted an open house on Friday, September 28.

During the open house, the early learning students had the opportunity to show off a project they created involving their dream career in the child care field.

Blair Govaert, a student in the class, aspires to pursue a career in the field of child law. Her project reflected on her career choice by showcasing certain aspects of her dream office, designed specifically to fit the needs of the children she would be working with. READ STORY »
