Snohomish High School welcomes parents to Curriculum Night

Curriculum Night is a night where teachers and parents meet and greet each other and discuss what students are going to expect in their classes.

Snohomish High School is holding a Curriculum Night on September 20, from 6:30-8:30 P.M. Parents should bring walking shoes and a copy of their students’ schedule. Students, now is the time to coach parents on how to get to class on time within a 5-6 minute passing period.

“We call it back-to-school-night,” said Anne Tompkins, assistant principal at SHS. “It’s a time for parents to meet teachers and hear about what’s going to happen over the course of the school year.”

Classes last about 10 minutes each, just enough for the teacher to introduce themselves and explain what they will try to accomplish during the year. Near the end of Curriculum Night, there will be around 15 minutes for parents to ask the teacher more in-depth questions about how their student is doing. This time will also allow parents with more than one student to visit other teachers for questions.

Tompkins said, “Parents will also be given the chance to meet the parent club president and will also hear a welcome speech from Dr. Porter. She will introduce key people to all the SHS student parents and make sure the parents know what to expect while there.”
