SHS Drowning In Paper

We’ve all had that one teacher that gives us 50 pounds of papers everyday making our binders burst at the seams. There is a solution to our problem…tablets!
Every student can use an electronic tablet to have our text books and paper handouts on. It will save money and trees by decreasing printing so many papers daily. We could be using them to read, explore the internet, do research projects, read, and do work from class textbooks. The possibilities are endless. READ STORY »

Last week, an anti-street harassment group called HollaBack released an awareness video following a woman around on the streets of NYC, being catcalled for hours. Surviving Washington Rain

With this magical weather we are being dumped into because we live in the wonderful state of Washington, SHS students are finding it difficult to stay dry. The constant down-pour is drenching students as they walk to the bus, walk to class, walk to school, or even set a toe outside. To an outsider, the rain seems inescapable.
However, being used to this soaking weather, SHS students and staff have found a few tips on staying relatively not-drenched as they battle the natural elements in the name of education. READ STORY »
The Desolation of Smaug: Movie Review

Think of your favorite place to play when you were a child, but imagine it is now a Walmart. Actually, you don’t have to imagine it, because that is how it feels watching Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The posters tell that Martin Freeman is the “star” as the Bilbo Baggins, but the person you’ll see the most of is Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield in the film’s fantasy setting. While the book is somewhat dreamlike and relaxed, the movie tends toward action-packed, and you should go in expecting as much. READ STORY »

If you’ve been to both a girls and boys basketball game then you know the boys are more likely to get fans than the girls. Most people’s initial thought about basketball is that males dominate the sport and that’s why they get more fans than female basketball teams do. American Country music artist, Jake Owen's release of his new album, Days of Gold, has been greatly anticipated by many and is likely to produce some of the top hits on the country music charts. Owen scored his first blockbuster in 2011 with Barefoot Blue Jean Night and has continued his success in to his latest album. Disney released its long-awaited new musical film last Wednesday. Frozen, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s story The Snow Queen drew in $93 million from the day it was released to Sunday.
