Feminism

What comes to mind when you hear the word feminism? Some thoughts might lead to stereotypes like aggressive woman who hate men, feminists are unfeminine, that they look down on women who lead a normal life style. This might be true for some, but you don’t have to be those stereotypes in order to be a feminist. In fact, feminism is not about any of the stereotypes stated. Feminism is not about hating men. Cell Phone Addictions

The last few years, people have grown to be very addicted to their phones and other electronics. For the most part, all age groups have them. Ever since smart phones have become popular, people have bought them more and more. This includes smart phones, tablets, iPods, iPads, etc. They are always being used. Some may say a little too much. People use them for not only playing games, but texting and staying in contact with their friends and family.

In the United States, citizens are blessed with a slew of civil liberties and freedoms that many people in the world can only dream of possessing, however it seems to be that as newer generations grow, the sense of pride and respect for our nation has declined. Rape jokes are not funny

When we were younger, we were taught that yelling “fire” is more effective than yelling “rape.” We were taught “don’t leave your drink alone” instead of “don’t drug someone.” How about we teach “don’t rape” instead of “don’t get raped.” I always hear how awful our rape culture is. If it is so awful, why do I hear multiple people every day making jokes about rape? Maybe they are being hypocrites, or maybe they don’t understand what rape culture is. READ STORY »
More Stop Signs Necessary

SHS is for the most part a very safe place, however, there is one thing that stands out to me and also some of my fellow students. The safety of walking to school and walking home is very important to students who live near the school. There are not many stop signs around the school. Are Assemblies Beneficial?

Ever since Snohomish High School was founded in 1894, there has been an abundance of spirit that flows through the halls of SHS. These are primarily due to spirit and pep assemblies.
There is a question that is hiding in the back of our minds; are these assemblies actually useful to us, or are they detrimental to our education?
