Real Impacts of Poaching

The foreign animals that you have come to love and learn more about since you were a child are going extinct due to poaching. Although poaching isn’t as big of a threat in North America as it is in Asia and Africa, the issue is not something that should be taken lightly. Hunting endangered species is illegal, but continues to occur because fur coats, horns, tusks, and organs are considered very valuable in some cultures and are sold over black markets. READ STORY »
Not Your Body, Not Your Decision

Schools everywhere have certain dress codes, telling you that you can't wear shorts or dresses above a certain length, and you can't show a certain amount of your shoulders or stomach. They do this so that your appearance won't be "distracting" to the staff, the other students, or to keep it "appropriate." But, in this society, why is it considered acceptable to shame students and make them feel less confident in an environment that they are supposed to feel safe in? READ STORY »

Why don’t we have off campus lunch? I know plenty of other schools that do, and I am wondering why we don't.

Huskies Win The Apple Cup

Everyone is aware of the rivalry between the Pac 12 University of Washington Huskies and the Washington State Cougars. The 285 miles between the "Dawgs" and cats isn’t enough when it comes to the Apple Cup; a traditional football game between two universities in the same state.
Washington isn’t the only state to have rivalry football games. The Michigan Wolverines and the Michigan State Spartans get together to play for their school each year as well. READ STORY »

Even if you’re not a NASCAR fan, you probably heard about the fight between Jeff Gordon and Brad Keselowski last Sunday night, November 2. This was the most recent of two fights that Keselowski has been in in the past three weeks, and from the looks of it, he’ll have another one before the year is out. Brad is making some powerful enemies, and it’s going to come back and bite him for the worse. Three weeks ago it was Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart, and his respect as a driver had taken a big hit as well. READ STORY »

The drama and fighting in Reality T.V., although appealing, raises expectations for appearance, highlights aggressive behavior, and promotes unhealthy relationships.
