SHS Continues the Tree of Giving

Snohomish High School has teamed up with Toys for Tots to run the Annual Tree of Giving Toy Drive this holiday season.

Snohomish High School’s National Honor Society and JROTC clubs have organized the collection of toys and promoted this traditional toy drive throughout the school. Kaci Cowan, the advisor for National Honor Society, has encouraged the students to be active in participation. READ STORY »

Battle of the Gingerbread Houses

Lindsey Haywood, the foods and nutrition, is conducting her third Annual Gingerbread House Competition this Wednesday in D-109 with her class. As their three week time period comes to a close, students put final touches on their houses to out-perform the other groups in this big competition. READ STORY »

Snohomish High's Canned Food Drive

During the last week before Christmas break, Snohomish High School collected over 3,000 cans in a holiday food drive for the Snohomish Food Bank.

Students competed against each other in a classroom competition for a traveling trophy that resides with the class that gives the most donations. While English teacher Kelly Martinez defended her title of most donations, she believes that the competition is less important than the actual charity event. READ STORY »

SHS English class brings handwritten books to elementary school class

Keri Jantz has 23 seniors in her third period Modern Fiction class. Wednesday, December 17, they took the ten minute walk in winter temperatures with a light sprinkle to Elizabeth Borland’s first grade class at Central Elementary in town. The seniors created children’s books in class for the kids as presents for the holidays. READ STORY »

Even though the bathrooms in G-Building next to the Athletic Office remain locked, Anne Tompkins assures students that it is only through lack of custodial funds. The mystery behind the locked bathrooms doesn’t have such a thrilling story behind it as some might expect. The story starts back when SHS had the remodel in 2008-2009. READ STORY »

Twin Eagles To Keep Their Doors Open

After three-quarters of a century of serving the Snohomish community, Twin Eagles Café was struggling to keep its doors open.

Twin Eagles Café, local restaurant, is a very popular breakfast spot in Snohomish, and has a special place in the community. Since it was established, it’s a regular meeting place for breakfast dates, family brunches, and a bite to eat before exams during finals. READ STORY »

Ski Season Beginning Slowly

Over the weekend a few students from SHS traveled separately to Wenatchee to go skiing at one of only two ski resorts open in the state of Washington; Mission Ridge.

U.S. Skiers Killed In Avalanche

Monday January 3, two ski racers on the U.S. Development team lost their lives to an avalanche while free skiing in Soelden, Austria. The two skiers were Ronnie Berlack of Franconia, New Hampshire and Bryce Astle of Sandy, Utah.

A group of six skiers got caught in the avalanche, but four were able to ski out safely. On average, 100 people die a year from avalanches in the Austrian Alps.

The U.S. ski team’s European home training base is located in Soelden, Austria and the development team was there for a training camp and to race in the Europa Cup Races. READ STORY »

SHS looks to fix health code violations

Snohomish High School received a list of requirements from the Snohomish Health Department that iit had not met this past December.

Washington Administration Code, said that Snohomish High School was failing to meet certain requirements. Every once in a while, the health department inspects schools and supplies them with a list of things that don't meet the requirements and need to be improved. READ STORY »

Who Will Win the 2015 Superbowl?

In a poll of 20 Snohomish High School students, 12 believe the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl, three think that the Seahawks will compete, and the other five are rooting for other teams to end up at the Super Bowl.

With the Super Bowl coming up so quickly sports fans are gearing up. Everyone wants their favorite team to win, but who is really in the running for Super Bowl Champion 2015? READ STORY »
