Snohomish High School Participates in Statewide Earthquake Drill

SHS participated in a statewide earthquake practice drill this year.

The Great ShakeOut, a national organization to promote required earthquake drills, ran their Washington State drill on October 16 at 10:16 a.m.

“This drill is very important to the safety and preparedness of the school,” said Assistant Principal Anne Tompkins.

Tompkins is in charge of emergency preparedness on campus, and believes that required earthquake drills need to be taken seriously. READ STORY »

Veteran's Day Assembly

In honor of thanking and remembering the soldiers who have and are still fighting for our freedom, SHS participated in the annual Veteran's Day assembly. This assembly took place in the main gym right after first period. READ STORY »

Mr. SHS 2014

The annual Mr. SHS competition was held on Wednesday, November 12, in the Performing Arts Center. Students from all grade levels came to cheer on their favorite nominee which included Freshman Paul Tippett, Sophomores Will Saunders and Adam Ivelia, Juniors Drake Wilson and Tristan Palma, and Seniors Gus Baxter and Alex Fairhurst.

The event began with Junior Class Officers Christina Deierling and Jessamine Anderson emceeing. They welcomed everyone to the PAC and carried on into the introductions. READ STORY »

SHS FFA Tearing Up the Tractor Course

Students traveled to Moses Lake Washington this past Friday to compete in the State FFA Tractor Driving Competition. Two teams of three students from Snohomish competed in the events. READ STORY »

SHS Freshmen Judicial Officers Elected

Wednesday morning was no ordinary day. Liam Anderson, along with Nathan Nicholson were elected to be the freshmen’s representation in the judicial branch of the ASB Senate. The election took place during the Senate meeting on Wednesday, December 3, during Panther Period. READ STORY »

Care Packages

Over 70 care packages, put together by SHS students for military personnel, were delivered to the UPS store in Snohomish, Monday, November 24. The packages contained everything from socks to candy. Students brought in food, t-shirts and various hygiene products to their classes over the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving.

The packages included a thank you letter from ASB and Holiday cards from R.A.K.E. Club.

Over $1,300 where raised for mailing costs. There is approximately $150 left over that will be used for next year. READ STORY »

SHS Vocal Music Department's Winter Concert

The Snohomish High School Vocal Music Department held its Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 9, at 7 p.m. in the PAC.

There were 120 students who performed in total, and over 350 people in attendance.

All five of Jaci Cummings’ choirs sang during the performance, with different students from the Voices of Men, Treble Choir, Crimson Singers, Symphonic Choir and Women’s Ensemble.

“It’s the first concert, so you get to see all of the choirs’ starting points,” says Junior Drew Virgin, a member of the Voices of Men. READ STORY »

Bring the Pep

There was some speculation as to what the “pep assembly” on Tuesday, December 2 was going to be about. Whether it was about fall sports recognition or introducing Winter sports.

Walking into the gym, a mat was set up in the middle of the floor. That’s it. Beginning with the song “Lip Gloss” by Lil Mama. Senior Bonnie Greer and Sophomore Josue Barajas showed us what we know ‘bout them. READ STORY »

SHS Jam Club Carols at Haggen and Downtown Snohomish

Snohomish High School Jam Club will be caroling this weekend at Haggen's Food Grocery Store as well as First Street in Downtown Snohomish.

Jam Club advisor Volkert Volkersz coordinated the caroling, and explained the less known reason for the group’s caroling. READ STORY »

Holly Jolly Improv show wows the crowd

“Holly Jolly Improv,” which took place last Friday at 7:00 in the SHS PAC, was a hit. The profit made will be benefiting the SHS Theater Club in their Alice in Wonderland production. READ STORY »
