SHS Photographs Their Clubs

The annual club photo day was held at SHS this past Friday, December 4. The upstairs lobby of the PAC and the auxiliary gym were used to take pictures.
Close to fifty clubs took pictures in various apparel that represented student clubs and their interests. Costumes were not allowed to be worn during the photo.
The pictures were taken by Dorian, who handles all the pictures at SHS. The entire event was put on by the Annual staff, with help from Vince Ivelia’s third period leadership class as part of their committee work. READ STORY »
Winter Sports Pep Assembly

Snohomish High School staff and students packed the gymnasium this morning for an assembly to introduce the winter sports and athletes.
All students walked into the gymnasium this morning to find the band playing upbeat tunes and the cheerleaders dancing right along. They filled the stands and settled into their seats. Assemblies are not a new concept for students at SHS. Leadership, spirit, and involvement are large parts of the atmosphere of SHS. READ STORY »
All Star John Lennon Tribute Concert

Snohomish Nights of Laughter

The last of the five showings of the first ever comedy fall production of the Snohomish High School Theatre Club ended Saturday, December 12.
SNL, or Snohomish Nights of Laughter, was a last minute idea from senior Lily Stephens. When she was told by director Dana Oppelt that there would not be a fall production, Stephens presented the idea and soon became the student director. READ STORY »
SHS Red and White Fall Recognition Assembly

To kick off winter spirit week at SHS, Vince Ivelia’s second period leadership class put on the annual fall recognition assembly this past Monday, December 14.
“Every assembly, we try to have a piece of the four A’s, in regards to athletics, the arts, academics and activities,” Ivelia says. “It’s always a learning process, and that’s why we do it.”
The assembly started with seniors Drake Wilson and Lily Stephens parading around the gym in Santa and Mrs, Clause costumes, throwing candy canes to the crowd of students. READ STORY »
C-Building Leak

C-building experienced flooding problems this week that forced many classes in the building to relocate until the situation is cleaned up.
“The flood started Sunday after 3:30,” said Tony Stapleton, a science teacher in C-building. “A pipe blew the fitting off and shot water six feet in the air in the middle of [C201].”
Teachers Jay Adams, Louis Boggeri, Dave LeWarne, David Ellefson and Canela Arechiga were all affected, having to resort to using other classrooms throughout campus to keep class going. READ STORY »
Musical Talent Highlighted in Jam Club's Open Mic

Several musicians sang and played instruments at the Jam Clubs Open Mic during both lunches on Friday.
“[A lunch had a]full house audience of thirty – thirty-five students,” said Volkert Volkerz, the Jam Club advisor, "along with eight performers." Second lunch had a little bit of a smaller crowd of 15 students, and four separate performances including seniors Emmy Tyson and Shawn Arko, a couple Jam Club officers. READ STORY »
ASB's MLK Assembly Differs from Previous Years

SHS' annual Martin Luther King Jr. assembly last Monday was different than ones in the past, instead using speakers from SHS rather than hiring a professional speaker for the assembly. This assembly emphasized discrimination and highlighted students' experiences with the issue.
The JROTC Color Guard presented the colors while the Crimson Singers, one of the choirs at SHS, sang the National Anthem. READ STORY »
Annual Olympia Project 2016

Government and law students boarded buses and headed to Olympia Thursday to present the bills that they have been working on since late November.
Students gathered their binders and dressed to impress as they met with legislatures and legislative assistants to discuss things that they wish to change in Washington State. READ STORY »
