Freshman class hosts Lip Sync Battle

The class of 2019 hosted the first annual Lip Sync Battle with eight student groups participating on Friday.
Freshman Sam Shull took top honors with his performance of Fallout Boy's, "The Phoenix".
In the past, Snohomish High School has teamed up with Glacier Peak in a Battle of the Bands to help the freshman class raise money. As of last year, the schools moved on separately to do different fundraisers. Snohomish switched to the idea of a lip sync battle. READ STORY »
Students Host Night of the Arts 2016

The 2016 annual Night of the Arts showcase displayed many student entries on May 12 in the SHS gymnasium.
Throughout the year, students worked hard on their own pieces of art from many different departments. Contributing classes included drawing and painting, ceramics, sculpture, photography, home economics, digital arts, computer-aided design, and other art based classes. READ STORY »
Final Farewell to Volkert Volkersz; Jam Club Advisor and SHS Librarian

The eleven-member SHS Jam Club had their last concert on Wednesday, June 1 and final open mic in the library on Friday, June 3 for not only the year, but also for the club advisor Volkert Volkersz, who is retiring at the end of this year.
Volkersz has been a songwriter since the age of nineteen, and has been serving as a model for the students for many years. Often they would be the first to hear his new pieces to give opinions and feedback. Four to six pieces of Volkersz's pieces were featured in the Wednesday night show in honor of him. READ STORY »
Veterans' Memorial Stadium Unveils New Monument

SHS held a rededication ceremony for Veterans’ Memorial Stadium on its campus this past Friday, September 9, shortly before their football game against Glacier Peak.
Captain Will Lennon gave several speeches and told several stories about his time in the military, as well as introduced several guest speakers who were veterans.
Several dozen veterans were in attendance and sat to honor the memorial. READ STORY »
Meet the 2016 Homecoming Court

The homecoming court was announced this past Monday as part of SHS’ tradition of having the senior class elect a new court every fall before the homecoming spirit week.
The homecoming princesses were announced shortly before the end of sixth period by Eric Cahan, the principal at SHS.
The princesses are seniors Quinn Otteson, Annika Roberts, Jenna McNeil, Kalieghe Phillips, Kiana Akazawa, Ame Bridgman, Madison VanEyk, Natalie Warner, Jess Layton, and Samantha Kevil. READ STORY »
Maintenance Room Pipe Combustion Floods Math Room

A pipe in the maintenance room on the second floor of D-Building broke, flooding the adjoining math classroom shared by Jody Hill and Yasmina El-Wattar in D209 during second period on Thursday, September 22.
The flood happened in the middle of second period; Algebra 2 w/ trig. students had settled down and were taking notes under the guidance of Hill. In the middle of taking notes, they heard a big "whooshing" sound throughout the room, according to sophomore Rachel Millard. READ STORY »

Veterans' Day Assembly Observed at SHS; Tuck Gionet and Hal Moe Honored

The annual SHS “Americanism” assembly was held today on November 7 at SHS in honor of Veterans’ Day on November 11.
John McPherson, a history teacher at SHS, opened the assembly by introducing the Crimson Singers (SHS’ jazz choir led by Jaci Cummings) as they sang the National Anthem.
The MCJROTC Color Guard presented the colors under the leadership of senior Serena Shull.
McPherson handed the microphone over to senior Amelia Bridgman, who introduced a video where students presented the meaning of Veterans’ Day. READ STORY »
Theatre Club Changes Musical to "Les Miserables"

The SHS Theatre Club changed their musical this past Wednesday, November 30, from the hit “Legally Blonde” to the Broadway adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel, “Les Miserables.”
