Snohomish High School contains an array of unique and talented students. Senior Emma Johnson has contributed to this in her own way.
In addition to her day to day life, Johnson has also taken up a hobby that some might just find to be a bit frightening. Johnson has been riding horses since “before she could walk”.

The economy is tough these days and it’s hitting some harder than others. Bothell’s Kadybrook Farm, which belongs to one of our favorite teachers, Stacy Lischke’s hobby farm. The farm is being moved to a different location in seven weeks, after she got a nine week notice that 16 houses would be put on their Kadybrook farm. READ STORY »

Surprising improvement for Owl City's latest EP

Ever since the release of “Fireflies”, which sold over 3 million copies, Owl City has been a household name. The fantastic lyrics, soft techno beats and chip tune base of Owl City’s first big album “Ocean Eyes” instantly set this one man band apart from the rest of the music scene. However, the album was not without its problems. In many songs including “Hello Seattle” and “Tip of the Iceberg” the singing was heavily auto tuned and therefore lacked individuality. READ STORY »

In less than thirty days the class of 2012 will be leaving SHS. Moving on to bigger and better things, their time at SHS is almost up. One thing they still have to accomplish before they move on is graduation. Every year it is tradition to have the class president, valedictorians, and one selected student to speak at the ceremony. SHS FFA heads to state

When some people see an FFA member, they see an itchy blue corduroy jacket and a sweaty face. But a fellow FFA member can look past that and deeper than just the surface. The jackets they wear stands for tradition and pride; made up of Corn Gold and National Blue. Their faces look pained because they’re focusing on the competition ahead; whether it is Veterinary Science, where they have to be able to recall hundred of different terms and tools used in veterinary hospitals, or Dairy Foods, where the competitor must be able to identify different kinds of dairy products. 2008 was a big year for the United States. For the first time there was an African American was running for president, the possibility of a female vice president and then the downfall of the United States Economy. Emmy winning alumnus visits SHS

On Friday, May 4, SHS was visited by one of their more famous alumni. Emmy winner Sean Hintz, class of 1995, had given a speech at the Fankhauser Departmental Scholars Award Ceremony the night before. Hintz toured campus, which he remarked was “so completely different,” and talked to the Journalism class about his success. READ STORY »
Video Game Addiction Plagues Teenagers

In the last few years, video games have become more and more popular to the younger generation. According to a poll taken in 2007, out of 1,178 teens in the US, eight point five percent of them were found to be addicted to video games. There are a number of possible reasons of why teens (and young adults) could be addicted. It could be that they are devoted to beating every level of every game or it could be a way to simply relieve stress. READ STORY »
