ASB Elections are Underway

ASB Elections will be taking place next week thru January 28.  Students can login to the "SHS Student Information" page on Canvas to listen to candidates and cast their votes.  This year's election features three candidates for the office of president.

Ryanne Mardini

What would you do if you are elected as president?

If I were elected to be president, I would try to slow everything down so that students as well as teachers can take a minute to enjoy everything around them. I would also try to practice and perfect more lockdown safety measures with officials.

Why do you want to be president?

The reason I want to be president is so that I can give SHS the love they gave me when I first came. I want to take care of it and help it became better than it was; just like we are always taught, “leave it better than you found it”

Ella Molsee

What would you do as president?

I want to improve the inclusivity in our environment at Snohomish High School, and I want to make sure that all people have a voice by being an advocate for the people who need it. I also want to improve the school spirit by having more spirit days and encouraging more people to participate.

What are your qualifications?

I am optimistic in leadership positions and always look for the bright side. I have also done other leadership positions such as secretary and PR officer for kindness club. I am also a part Judicial branch in ASB and part of the Snohomish for equity youth counsel. I have also held leadership positions in a band since sophomore year.

Janeth Mendez Pacheco

What would you do as president?

If I were elected as president, my goals for my term would be to focus on communicating and getting feedback from students so I could establish an environment that feels safe for everyone. I want students to know that I am here to listen to them, and I will do my best to help them in any way possible. I want to create a school where people want to come rather than feel obligated to be here. Additionally, I would love to help the other officers with things such as promoting our clubs and school events in order to have more people partake in them. The school spirit is a huge part of SHS; therefore, I would be honored to keep that spirit and traditions alive by promoting it, doing different spirit days, and finding alternative ways to keep connected even through this pandemic.

What are your qualifications?

Some qualifications I have that would enable me to do well as president would be that I am a very easy person to talk to. I am very welcoming towards everyone, and I'm willing to go on and beyond to help my peers. On top of that, I am responsible and able to manage my school life with my personal life; therefore, I will be organized and fulfill my responsibilities as president. Throughout my life, I have been put in positions where I had to take responsibility of others which has given me insights of ways to lead in a way that doesn't degrade others and instead uplifts them.
