SHS Band Performs their First Post-Lockdown Concert

Live music returned to the SHS campus since the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Spring of 2019.

The high school band program held their first concert in the PAC on October 26th.

Many people were happy to hear the students play because they hadn't had a chance for almost a year.

Even the members of band wanted to get to performing for their eager audience.

The audience observed all of the state mandated health guidelines, including wearing masks and social distancing.

Band members were socially distant and wore masks when they were not playing their instruments.

Because of capacity limits, many people were unable to attend in person, so the concert was live-streamed on YouTube

While the audience looked empty from the stage, the rest of the fans were cheering them on through the live-stream

The underclassmen section of the band began first and fired up the audience for the older section.

Senior Jackson Steiner, who has been an SHS band member since freshmanbelieves that the band is doing okay considering that they were unable to gather and practice for a year.

Several other seniors said that they believe the band is on par or slightly below the skill level of previous years.

The next band concert will be held on January 26 in the PAC.
