A New Seahawk-Themed Car Club

Are you a car person? Are you also a Seattle Seahawks fan? A group of people decided to combine the two popular interests and form Hawk Wheels, a new club in the Everett area. Hawk Wheels is centered on Seahawks themed cars, motorcycles and rides.

Not just a lousy bumper sticker or antenna ball, however, is enough.

Hawk Wheels was formed about four months ago, when club organizer Mike Wear, 47, and two other guys with Seahawks themed rides met at the Evergreen Speedway in Monroe.

Wear is a former Snohomish High School student and was the Commanding Officer of the JROTC program in 1989. He owns a 1998 Volkswagen Beetle, which he calls the “Beetle Of Boom." It is painted Seahawks blue, and decked out in neon green flames, a big Seahawk art on the hood, logos on the doors, and more. He even owns a matching electric guitar. He is a big fan of his home team, his cars, and decking out rides in Seahawks stuff.

The club has a current lineup of thirteen Seahawks themed rides, including a Harley, BMW, a Chevy Cruze, a Minivan, a crotch rocket, and even a food truck. In October, at a car show in Kent, four club members competed with other Seahawks themed car clubs in the region and went home with three trophies. Eight also participated in Marysville’s Holiday parade.

Although strutting their stuff is a big thing for Hawk Wheels, charity is also extremely important. Members of the club like to collect for food banks and help the homeless in the region.

Sometimes you may find them and their hawked out rides gathered at the club's headquarters. “My business is in Everett: Hardware Gadget Repair," said Wear, "which also serves as Hawk Wheels headquarters."

They even have personalized jerseys with the nicknames of their crazy rides.

The club can be found on their Facebook page, where pictures, news, and events are always being posted.
