Heather Lake is a Phenominal Hike

Heather Lake is a 4.6 mile hike right outside of Granite Falls off of Mountain Loop Highway. The trailhead is on the same dirt road hikers need to take to get to the trailhead of the Mount Pilchuck hike.

Heather Lake is kid-friendly and a very popular hike, which makes it very busy on the weekends. The hike is relatively easy, and would be a good hike to do for a new hiker or someone who is looking for a good way to spend a Saturday.

During the spring, Heather Lake is bountiful with beautiful green leaves and plants. The sound of birds is nature’s natural music as you make your way through the switchbacks that lead you higher and higher towards the lake. When you reach the top of the hike, there are two ways to get around the lake that eventually meet in the middle. There are big boulders across the lake that are perfect place to take a lunch break or do some mediocre cliff jumping. The water is clear as glass and ice cold.

During the fall and winter it gets extremely cold, especially at the top of the lake where there are less trees.

Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks along on this hike to stay hydrated and energized. This hike is very rewarding and one of the most beautiful gems around Snohomish area, which is why it is so popular.  Go grab an adventure buddy, some water, and get outside to Heather Lake.
