Seahawks Soar Past Vikings in a Dominating Victory

Seattle came ready to play against the Vikings on Sunday. The Vikings who led their division were handed their fourth loss of the season as the Seahawks rumbled past them with a 38-7 victory. The Seahawks remain in the driver’s seat for their own destiny the remainder of the season as they seem to be playing better now than ever before this season.

There were big keys to Seattle’s win with many things we can infer about Seattle’s remaining season. Russell Wilson has now had two of his best games in his career back to back. Russell threw for a total of 619 yards and nine touchdowns, including one rushing. Doug Baldwin is also assuring himself as an elite receiver with six touchdown catches over the last four weeks- two of them in Sunday’s game. We also saw defensive lineman Frank Clark capitalize on an opportunity to prove his worth with Jordan Hill and Demarcus Dobbs both out for the game. Clark had two sacks, three quarterback hits, and a pair of batted passes. It’s not far-fetched to expect a similar performance by all these players when we face the Baltimore Ravens next week.

One player that the Seahawk fans can’t seem to get enough of is running back Thomas Rawls. The Seahawk’s drafted the rookie as a free agent this season and has been filling in well for the injured Marshawn Lynch. Rawls has racked up 391 yards in the last three games, scoring one touchdown in each. The rookie participated in four games this season with over a hundred yards rushing. That’s a fairly impressive stats for an undrafted rookie who’s been a backup most of the season. The Seahawks may have a tough choice on their hands when Marshawn is healthy again, but having too much depth in the running back position is a good problem to have. In fact, all it creates is competition, something head coach Pete Carroll preaches. “Always compete,” said Carroll. Seattle can expect to see Rawls for at least the next three or four weeks even though Carroll hinted toward the fact that it could be longer. “Right now, it’s still rehab [for Marshawn]."

With only four games left in the rest of the regular season, Seattle appears to be getting hot at just the right time. If the team we saw these last two weeks is what we can expect to see the remainder of the season, then the Seahawks may be a true super bowl contender for the third year in a row.
