Fall Choral Concert is a Success

The Fall Choral Concert was the first choir concert of the year, and was a true test of how SHS's choir program had managed without a permanent choir director this year. Leading the students was the substitute director, Collette Anderson

The first to take stage was Voices of Men, the all-male group. They started the concert off on the right note with "Barbara Allen" a traditional English folk song. Sophomore Willi Flores-Diaz was a standout singer for the final song of their set, "Stop the Fight."

“[Voices of Men have] bonded together well,” said Flores-Diaz. “[They] melted together like chocolate on a warm summer night."

With this strong start, the pressure was on for the Treble Choir and Symphonic Choir to keep the concert going well.

They definitely delivered.

Treble Choir sang beautiful renditions of "How Merrily Live" and "Candle in Your Heart."

The Symphonic Choir took the bulk of the workload by performing four equally impressive songs. One of these, "Cantar!" gave some diversity to the concert, keeping the songs feeling fresh and different.

Finally, the Crimson Singers ended the concert in an impressive way. Even though I usually do not go to choir concerts,  these final four songs that the Crimson singers performed got me really into it. The singing voices of those individuals is not to be taken for granted.

Sophomore Taylor Odom and junior Maryanne Proffit amazed the crowd with their range and talent as they performed "The Lady is a Tramp."

Finally, the sped up version of "Fly Me to the Moon" ended a successful concert perfectly.
