The SHS cross country team competed at Willis Tucker Park in Snohomish against several other schools in the WESCO 4A League last Wednesday, October 7.

Snohomish came in third place with 35 points, with Marysville-Pilchuck taking first at 110 points. Marysville-Getchell placed second with 71 points while Jackson High School came last with 26.

SHS junior Katie Brandvold placed first overall, while senior Elliot Scott placed second. Seniors Kyla Shade, Shawna Krueger and Hans Thoreson made outstanding performances at the meet as well, along with junior Aaron Leavens.

“I feel like we're headed in the right direction,” says David LeWarne, the head cross country coach and biology teacher at SHS.

This was the only meet that will be held in Snohomish this year. The cross country team left Friday morning for their next meet in Richland in Eastern Washington.
