SHS boys basketball team defeats Lake Stevens

January 13, 2015, SHS varsity basketball team played against Lake Stevens and won with a score of 63 to 46. Everyone was there to help the Panthers beat the team, including students, the SHS cheerleaders and the band.

At the beginning, the band was playing loudly and the cheerleaders warmed up while the basketball team practiced for 20 minutes before the game. They practiced some sets to organize what they were going to do first. They also practiced shooting.

They were then ready to start the game at 7:15 p.m. The band stopped playing for a while to watch and see what the Panthers could do. But every time SHS got a basket a drummer would play a little beat to cheer. The cheer leaders cheered every time SHS got a basket.

The first period was very intense. One minute SHS would score, but Lake Stevens wasn’t far behind. When the second period came, everyone knew that the Panthers were determined to win. Half time ended with Snohomish winning 24 to 18.

During half time eight teachers from SHS participated in “bubble soccer”. It was where the teachers climbed half-way into a bubble and hit each other down to make a goal. It was very entertaining for the crowd. The band also played a few songs.

For the third period of the game SHS was still leading with 38 to 32. The crowd went wild with every basket that was made.

The final 40 seconds of the game it was clear that SHS was the champion to this game, but both teams still tried as hard as they could. In the end Lake Stevens Vikings were defeated.
