School Resource Officer returns

A familiar face returned to Snohomish this Monday, January 5. A previous Snohomish graduate, Officer Charlie Frati returned on campus, working as our School Resource Officer. He had been an SRO at Snohomish previously, and facility and students are glad to have him back.

The purpose of bringing back the SRO is mainly for added school safety, visibility, and being a resource for students. “A lot of kids will get jammed up in low level things, like a traffic ticket, and they want to know what to do,” said Vice Principal Anne Tompkins. Other things that students could go to him for are domestic violence problems or abuse.

Officer Frati could also speak in classes. He could speak in Health, Family, and Living classes to provide good information. “If any of the PE classes wanted him to come and talk about physical fitness, and how it is important in certain jobs, [he would],” said Tompkins.

Many have wondered if this means that our school is dangerous or unsafe. This is not true; it’s merely additional safety for our school. “He is scheduled to work from six thirty in the morning until three thirty in the afternoon, but he is also helping out Emerson, Central, Cascade View, and AIM High,” said Tompkins. If he needed to be at one of those schools, he would go there. His main place, however, will be here at Snohomish High.

Officer Frati is a very good resource to go to in any situation, and is here to help keep the students, teachers, and staff safe.
