Clash of Clans Storms into SHS

Many new clubs have been inducted into the halls of SHS this year, but one club that truly stormed into SHS is the Clash of Clans club.

The Clash of Clans club is new to SHS this year, and a couple times a month, students will wander into, math teacher, Dave Martina's classroom during Panther Period to pull out their phones and warp themselves to a whole new world.

"The students meet in here a couple of times during panther periods. They aren't really a club; they spend more time playing the game," said Martina.

Clash of Clans is a popular game for mobile devices that was created in 2012 by Supercell, a video game company that currently is in Helsinki, Finland.

The game offers players the fantasy and medieval culture of many popular MMO (massive multiplayer online) games in the palm of your hand, and has certainly attracted the attention of many students at SHS.

"[Clash of Clans is] a fun game where friends can join up and talk about strategies and defenses," said Freshman Ben Ellis, a member of the Clash of Clans club.

The Clash of Clans club at SHS is very well-known, but does not have very much popularity among students, regardless of being based around being on your phone. Unknown hobbies or activities often go unnoticed until they are either talked about by students or become associated with SHS itself. Given more awareness, the Clash of Clans club could become incredibly popular at SHS.

Whether it becomes a popular club, or continues to be a fun meeting place to play the game, the Clash of Clans club will continue to draw the attention of gamers and gamer wannabes that roam the halls of SHS.
