All Year's Resolutions

January 1 is a time when people choose something to improve on and create a New Year’s Resolution. Usually people stick to it for a couple of days, weeks or maybe a couple months. But how often do they really last? Usually they don’t last because people aren’t truly committed, they just feel they need to improve on something.

Although most of the time you really do need to improve on whatever your new year’s resolution is. We are usually not ready to improve on it. But why does it have to have New Year’s relations? Why not have new month resolutions, new week resolutions or even new day resolutions? Why do we allow a whole 365 days to pass before we make a decision to improve upon ourselves? Every minute is a new minute, a minute to change, a minute to remember. We make New Year’s Resolutions on things that seem relevant, but in reality are not.

Lose weight, work out more and eating healthy are usually the most popular, but usually that resolution doesn’t last. I think that, although some resolutions truly need to be made, some are obsolete in the everyday things we do in our life. Instead of waiting a year before improving ourselves or picking something to change, every day we should wake up and treat every day like a new day.

Life is fragile and temporary, so why not treat every day like you last? Tell others around you how much they mean to you, live every day without regrets, recognize your issues, but don’t worry about them, everything happens for a reason. Just live life to the fullest and don’t concern yourself with the big things.

Everyone should make an everyday resolution to live every day like it is your last, embrace those around you and don’t get caught up in the gimmicks of society.
