High School Librarian with a lot of Talent

Volkert Volkersz, the school's librarian and Jam Club advisor, is a man of many musical talents. He plays the guitar and harmonica, and is also a singer. As the Jam Club members know, he is very into his music. “Music is my passion, it’s the thread that keeps me sane,” said Volkersz.

About ten years ago, Volkersz and his good friend Harry Miller created a small album called “Music for the Advent Season.” Just last weekend he put the album online for everyone to hear. It’s also free to download until Christmas- then it will cost. The album contains four songs and is entirely instrumental with rhythms dating back over a thousand years ago. “Our work was inspired by the local band called Tingstad and Rumbel,” said Volkersz.

The music in the album is very peaceful, calming, and relaxing. Volkersz has many other songs as well that he writes himself. “I wrote my first song when I was 15, and since then I have written about 100 songs. In writing music I can express my emotions and I get a rush out of it. It’s exhilarating,” said Volkersz.

“I have an up and coming slow blues song that I am almost finished with, and hope to have it done by next week,” said Volkersz. Keep an ear out for his new song, and in the meantime, check out his album for some cool music to chill to.
