SHS's Homecoming Dance Highlights

Saturday, October 4, SHS threw its annual Homecoming celebration dance. This year’s theme was “The Enchanted Forest.” Many students dressed in semi-formal clothing where in attendance. “There were a lot of people. Maybe 200 on the dance floor. They were taking pictures, dancing and waiting in line,” says Senior Shane Villanueva.

There was a 15 to 20 minute wait to get into the dance, but it was worth it according to Villanueva. “When I got inside I went from excited to way more excited.”

The theme could be seen and identified from all corners of the room. The seating area was decorated with trees glowing with icicle lights really giving the space an enchanted ambiance. The dance floor was surrounded by glowing purple black lights giving the event an extra pop.

The dance retained its enthusiasm throughout the night. “At the end of the dance people were break dancing, like Tommy Cha,” Villanueva says.

Junior Darian Hampton said that, “overall the dance was amazing, except for the sweaty people.” The dance floor tends to get get hot and heated causing people to work up a sweat, but this didn't discourage others. The dance was a success.
