A Senior is Chosen for the Mustang Give-Away

Kyra Skievaski won the annual Bickford Ford Mustang give-away at the Homecoming Football Game on October 3. Bickford has been giving a brand new Mustang to a senior with a perfect driving record through a draw for about 12 years. During the Homecoming game pep assembly, they randomly draw five seniors’ names. At half time during the Homecoming game, these five seniors are each given an electronic car key; however only one key makes the car alarm go off.

The five seniors this year were Mitchell Gibbs, Skievaski, Jenika Isenhart, Hannah Walton, and Emily Minogue. The five were brought down onto the field during half time and faced the red Mustang. Each unsuccessfully tried to set off the car alarm with their electronic key until it was down to Gibbs and Skievaski.

The crowd's anticipation grew as Gibbs pushed the button, but, unfortunately, it was unsuccessful.

Skievaski was the last to go, and the car alarm echoed throughout the stands.

The amazement on her face was evident. “I felt shocked, almost like I couldn’t believe it,” said Skievaski. “I was shaking, and it was all very surreal.”

Skievaski attributes her perfect driving record to learning from other people’s mistakes. “Just seeing the consequences that other people had from mistakes driving motivated me. I didn’t want to deal with that.”

Skievaski is very thrilled about her Mustang. “[I’m excited about] upgrading to a nicer car and knowing that the car is a reward for my perfect driving record.”
