New Swim Team at the Snohomish Aquatic Center

The Snohomish pool, the Aquatic Center, not only holds the practices of SHS and the Glacier Peak High School, but has a swim team/club called SRST (StingRay Swim Team). This team has not only one level in swimming, like the high school’s teams, but a few different groups that you can be put into depending on the amount of skill you have are:

Seven Groups:

  • Silver group
  • Gold group
  • Age group one
  • Age group two
  • Age group three
  • Senior
  • Senior-Gold

These groups are based on ages up until the age group three. The age groups are from six to 18. The seniors are based on how many skills you have and how much time you are willing to spend on this event. The seniors go at least five days a week. The StingRay’s practice six days a week (Monday-Saturday) at most. Age groups and the silver and gold groups come as much as they can per week. It may be 2-3 days a week depending on their decisions.

The StingRay’s offer the team days to compete in a swim meet. A swim meet is a gathering of swimmers competing in timed swimming. For most swim meets you compete against other schools or teams, but the StingRays swim against their own team members. The date for these meets are posted on a website. Their website to find the cost and the information about the swim meets is on this website; htp://www.stingrayswimclub.com/Home.jsp?team=pnssrsc .

The person in charge of the swim team is Ben Olszewski. He is head coach and all of his information is also on the website. He plans dates for the swim meets and is in charge of the schedules.
