Homecoming Queen of 2014 is Announced

At the coronation assembly on Monday, September 29, Senior Brianna Ferguson was announced the 2014 Homecoming Queen by popular vote of the SHS students.

Ferguson’s astonishment was clear on her face as her name was called. “It was a complete surprise,” she said. “I’m still in shock. I was so happy and overwhelmed.”

Ferguson was escorted by Senior Jack McCunn, who has been one of her best friends since their junior year.

She was wearing a beautiful red dress that she found in Alderwood. “We couldn’t find [a dress] anywhere, but the last place we went to, I found it. I tried it on, and I knew. It was perfect,” said Ferguson.

Ferguson said, “[The best part about being queen] is having the honor that people picked me out of so many girls. It’s just such an honor.”

As far as her future goes, Ferguson is says she’s hopefully going to the University of Washington, go through medical school, and then become a pediatrician.

Ferguson tells under-classman to “take advantage of the opportunities given to you. Get involved. And make people feel important."

Ferguson will be representing SHS as their Homecoming Queen during the Serpentine Parade on Friday, October 3.
