Competitive Skiers at SHS

Senior Boomer Vuori, Senior Callie Dahlberg, and Junior Millie Henry are competitive skiers as well as students at SHS.

These SHS students train hard in order to be successful. They train during the summer as well as the winter, putting in many hours of practice. Henry trains about five days a week during ski season.

These three athletes are very dedicated to their sport, and are wiling to miss school in order to practice and compete.

“Sophomore year I missed 64 days of school,” Vuori said.

Henry and Dahlberg both said they miss a lot of school as well. That does not, however, stop them from being good students. They all have high GPA’s: Dahlberg has a 4.0, Henry has a 3.9, and Vuori has a 2.9.

Being competitive skiers, they all have gone to some amazing places to compete. Dahlberg has skied in Alyeska, Alaska, the only place in the U.S. where one can see the ocean while being on a mountain.

“Mount Bachelor is my favorite place to ski," said Vuori, “because of the powder on the mountain.”

All three competitors said their parents are their biggest supporters, from buying them equipment to going to competitions with them. Henry's father is even her coach.

“He goes everywhere I go!” she said.
