Husky or Cougar territory

Students came to school dressed in Cougar crimson and grey or Husky gold and purple Wednesday, November 27. This was the second “dress up day” of the year giving students yet another way to show their spirit and support their favorite team in the upcoming Apple Cup.

While most kids wore just one team’s colors, Junior Raichel Howell decided to dress up in both Cougar and Husky gear. “My family has gone to both WSU and the UW so I had to wear both to sort of ‘appease the family,'" said Howell.

On the second floor of D building the rivalry was brewing with math teachers Jenny Klovdahl and Justin Fogg proudly sporting their husky sweatshirts while math teacher Carla Dobbins and English teacher Jennifer English donned their cougar sweatshirts in retaliation. Each teacher’s display case was also decked out with their alma mater’s colors and paraphernalia.

Some students are such die-hard fans that they would even wear opposing team colors than their best friend.

A brother and sister were seen wearing opposite colors; they said that their mom went to WSU and their Dad attended UW so they had a sort of friendly competition going on.

Last month students wore their Seahawk gear for the November dress up day.

This new monthly tradition was put in place this year and so far it has been a hit with the students.
