Girls basketball tryouts coming up

Tryouts for the SHS Girls’ Basketball team are right around the corner.

The 2012-2013 season was successful with more wins than losses. The girls won 15 games and only lost nine last year. Senior Callie Harwood predicts that the toughest opponent this upcoming season will be “Lynnwood because they have a lot of returners and were a strong team last year.” Harwood was admitted to the hospital halfway through the season and was not able to finish last season and “that makes this basketball season so much more exciting,” Harwood said.

Bailey Armbruster will be playing her last season and “it means that [she has] to give everything [she has] and make the best out of it.” Armbruster has played on varsity for two years (including this year) and swung her sophomore year. Armbruster said “I love my teammates and I am really excited to be able to see them every day again and make a lot of good memories.”

The Snohomish Panthers are expected to come back strong with almost all players returning. Last year, two seniors graduated and this year there are five seniors returning to the team. Tryouts begin on November 18 for C team, JV and Varsity. Coach Ken Roberts said “we had a four year starter, Morgan Green. Losing her will be our biggest adjustment. The biggest thing to me is to get good shots down the court.” The Snohomish Panthers will play their first game on December 6 against Marysville Pilchuck High School.
