SHS football loses a thriller to Monroe

Snohomish lost a football game in overtime to Monroe Friday October 11.

Less than 20 seconds in, Snohomish scored a touchdown starting the game off well for the panthers. With everyone pumped up after scoring the first touchdown, Monroe found a way to weaken Snohomish and come out with a win. Without one of their star players Senior Ben Johnston, who broke his arm during the first half, Snohomish still managed to overcome the loss. “Ben was a major threat on the field and guys are definitely going to have to step up to fill his spot,” Senior Mike Sanders said.

“Ben is an impact player, so he can definitely impact the game at any point, but players are going to have to step up with his loss.” Senior Tanner Arrington said.

Johnston was in the process of blocking someone, fell down and a player from the other team kicked his arm and it broke. “I broke my hand sophomore year and dislocated my shoulder last year, but this injury is definitely worse than all the rest considering I can’t play the rest of my last high school season,” Johnston said. He will not be recovered for 6-8 weeks, but still has plans to play college ball.
