PSAT spots sold out

All 200 available spots for this Saturday's PSAT at SHS have been sold out as of yesterday.

The PSATs are there to help students prepare for SAT, a standardized test required by most four year universities for admission.

The PSATs are similar to the SATs but they do not count as your scores. The PSAT’s are a practice version of the SATs for students usually the age of 15 or 16. The PSAT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills. The main point of this test is to receive feedback, and learn strengths and weaknesses so students can study for the SATS.

Each year, the College Board awards the National Merit scholarships to students who took the test their junior year.  SHS student, Grace Elliot, is a National Merit semi- finalist.

Every year the National Merit Scholarship Corporation has about 15,000 finalists. The National Merit award is an academic competition for recognition. After narrowing it down 8,000 finalists, the finalists can receive up to $2,500 in scholarships.
