Mural Dedication Ceremony

Snohomish High School held its annual Night of the Arts last week with a special twist. There was a dedication ceremony welcoming the new mural painted outside the library as part of the night’s events.

The mural consists of an array of images representing Snohomish, created by artist Dan Smith, stretching from the early times to current day.

“The mural represents the history of Snohomish from the last of the natives and early logging, very rapidly and has an enlarged image of the newly remodeled school” said Volkert Volkersz, SHS librarian.

Plans for the ceremony consisted of speeches from staff including principal Beth Porter and Gordy Brockman, along with some words from the artist himself and a performance by Snohomish High School Jam Club.

“The superintendent once said he felt it was the capstone of the entire remodel project, it makes the hallway more welcoming and connects us to our history” said Volkersz.
