Students selected from Snohomish High School to be part of All State and Northwest bands

Five band students from Snohomish High School were chosen to spend their mid-winter break in Portland, Oregon with the All-State and Northwest band groups.

“They went through a blind audition, which is like a regular audition, but the judges can’t see who the player is,” Director Pete Wilson said. “It removes personal preferences from auditions so that everyone gets a fair chance.”

The five students who were chosen were Leah Thomas, Hannah Anderson, Ava Linvog, Thomas Davis, and James Fuchs. Chosen out of hundreds of musicians, the students will be given the chance to perform alongside other band players from across the state and region.

“I was a little bit surprised that I had made it into All-State,” tuba player Thomas Davis said. “Last year I had been shifted two groups upward in the All Northwest group.”

The concert is being held in Portland, Oregon. The students will rehearse for two-and-a-half days for 8 to 9 hours and then they will play in the concert on Sunday.
