SHS Girl's Varsity Tennis heads to Districts

On May 16, SHS Girls Varsity tennis went to the district competition. With a regular season record of 12-3, Districts looked promising for the Panthers.

In sub-districts Seniors Gabby Wilson and Julia Young were North Wesco champs, giving them first seed for districts in doubles. “I was really excited for districts,” Wilson said.

Instead of playing singles, junior Meredith Coad was going to play doubles with sophomore Caroline Dreher. Coad got sick and was unable to compete in the sub-district completion. Even though Dreher wanted to take on two people alone she was unable to.

Junior Alexis Stockwell and Senior Audrey Zahina competed in sub-districts in singles and Zahina qualified for the district competition.

At Districts the first day, Wilson and Young played Jackson and Kamiak. They beat Jackson but lost to Kamiak. The second day, Wilson and Young played Marysville and Edmonds Woodway. They beat Marysville, but lost to Edmonds. “We got fourth, but only the top three goes to state.” said Wilson.
