Senior Reilly Cross candidate for soccer player of the year

Getting Soccer Player of the year shows dedication on and off the field. It means they are a team player and don’t expect to be recognized, they just live for the sport. This year one candidate is Senior Reilly Cross.

When Cross heard the news that he had been chosen as a candidate to win the award he was very excited. “It’s cool,” Cross said. Cross plays forward for the SHS Varsity Soccer team. He started playing soccer when he was about five years old after his dad introduced it to him. “I was just really fast and it went on from there,” said Cross. He has now been playing on the school team for four years. Outside of school he plays select soccer and last year he played for TyneCastle FC, an exclusive soccer club.

Cross said that his teammates are the reason for a lot of his success during games and practice. “On the field they always seem to try and look for me,” Cross stated. According to Cross his coach, Dan Pingrey, is not much of a yeller, “but when [Pingrey] gets mad he pushes you. You know you have to pick it up,” Cross clarified.
