Lacrosse Team Prepares for Big Game

The Snohomish Boys Varsity Lacrosse team is playing in the semi-final game at Glacier Peak High School at 7:30 PM to gain them a spot in the state competition Wednesday, May, 23.

The semi-final game will be against Nathan Hale Lacrosse club, a team from Seattle whose record is 13-3; the Snohomish team has a record of 17-0. Harrison Wartes, a junior and mid-fielder on the team says that “[his] team has a very high chance of winning because [they] are undefeated and Nathan Hale only has about three good players.”

Davyd Powell, a sophomore and defensive player is confident that his team will make it onto state. Powell stated, “as long as we stay focused and aren’t nervous then we have a good chance of winning.” Powell also said that his team “has more confidence than any other team, and that will help [them] win.”

Last year the Snohomish Boys Lacrosse team was eliminated in the first round of playoffs. Junior David Wartes, a mid fielder on the team says they made it so far this year because, “[they] play much better as a team this year, and the cliques between positions is gone.”

The team has four boys from SHS, and the rest of the team is made up of students from Glacier Peak High School, Lake Stevens High School, Monroe High School, and Archbishop Murphy High School.

If they win the semi-final game they will go on to compete for the state title in boy’s lacrosse in Seattle on May 26.
