Caught in the Web

In case you haven’t noticed, the Arrowhead has stopped appearing in your classrooms and on your lunch tables. Although, maybe you haven’t. Maybe you’re here because you just like websites. Or you’re just that bored in class. Whatever the reason you’re here, it’s because print is dead and the web is alive. The Arrowhead has moved online. But in the true spirit of all things Panther, much like football and people who forget about their AP tests, it didn’t go without a fight.

Our advisor, Mrs. English, has been thinking about going online for a while. A little before the semester started, I found out this ambition was going to be realized.

Let me give you a quick crash course on the last four years in Arrowhead. In 2008, we had a year long class and a twelve page paper put out every month. Due to budget cuts, the next year we found ourselves without a class and the paper didn’t always come out monthly. Last year we ran on a class/club basis that was an improvement but not anything close to perfect. The Arrowhead Evolution has a rich history and is far from over.

This website was supposed to go up a while ago, but a comedy of errors has prevented this. In the meantime, myself and this year’s Arrowhead Staff (the lovely Maegan and Jenny, and mostly lovely Baylee) have been writing articles that may or may not be out of date by the time the website goes up. Even as I write this, I know the earliest it could possibly see the light of day is next week. And it’s only Tuesday. I applaud all of the staff’s hard work at a time when the future of their subject was unclear.

The point is, progress is never easy. Sometimes you fight your way back from behind while your hometown watches. Sometimes Mrs. Tompkins pulls you out of class and you sprint toward your testing location. Sometimes it involves patience. And really great writers. And a really great advisor. And a cool web design. But mostly patience.

I hope you enjoy this website. It’s fun and shiny and new. It was worth all the blood, sweat, and patience.
