Freshman Wins Annual SHS Variety Show

Freshman Arleigh Bjorling won SHS’s annual Variety Show tonight, singing an original composition called “You” while accompanying herself with the guitar.

The 2019 Snohomish High School Variety Show featured an assortment of vocal talents as well as a pianist, a comedic dancer, and a magician. Emceed by seniors Alex Vickers and Elle Everett, fourteen different acts competed for first place with the prize being a featured performance during the spring Performing Arts Assembly.

Each act was judged and scored by a team of five teachers and faculty members. The different areas judged were preparedness, presentation, and overall talent. At the end of the night, the top three acts were recognized before the eager crowd.

Seniors Javon Hinton and Justus Cagle claimed second place with Hinton’s original rap piece titled “I’ll be Alright.”

Bjorling closed the show with the fourth original of the night, securing first place at the same time.

“Singing and playing music has always been a big part of my life and something I love to do,” said Bjorling. “I didn’t go in with high expectations. I just wanted to have fun and have a good time.”
